College tour is a life time experience which teaches students the essense of sharing, caring, selflessness, facing challenges, problem-solving, cherishing friendships, team spirit and celebrating their lives. The experience gained in such trips inspire, infuse enthusiasm, inculcate sense of responsibility and make students ready for their future endeavours. The members of this club put efforts to capture the memories of their tour in the form of beautiful tour diaries. The experience of making documentaries is as thrilling as the tour itself. Refreshing the memories of traveling together and sharing joy, these diaries make one relive the tour. An in-house production of the club, these travelogues showcase the talent of our students in documentation, compilation, editing and presentation.
Under-graduate students of B.V.Sc. & A.H. are taken on an educational tour to Ladakh of about 10 days duration once in their degree programme. They travel to different places in Ladakh like Minimarg, Drass, Kargil, Leh, Nubra and the beautiful Pangong Lake. They pass through different passes like Zoji la, Namika la, Fotu la, Khardung la and Chang la. Zoji la (3,528m altitude), considered to be difficult for road travel, connects Kashmir valley with Ladakh. Kardung la (5,359m altitude), which is considered to be one of the highest motorable roads in the world, connects Leh with the Nubra Valley. Nubra Valley is also known as Dumra in Tibetan meaning Valley of Flowers. It is a place where students get to ride the unique double-humped camels in its Hunder village, which known as the land of sand-dunes. After a long journey through Chang la (5,391m altitude) from Leh, a mesmerizing view of Pangong Lake spell-bounds the students and leaves its long lasting impression. Various rivers like Indus, Zanskar, Suru, Nubra and Shyok come across while traversing the mountains of Ladakh. Students also get to see yaks grazing around in the mountains. The clear night skies in Ladakh present an unforgettable view of the stars and the galaxies. While enjoying nature closely they learn about resilience in the tough terrains. With the aim to promote education through the means of art, the club compiled education material containing motivational information related to the profession of veterinary and animal sciences. The information was displayed on the display boards in an artistic style. The idea was to promote learning while walking around through the corridors of the classrooms with the help of creative art so that the attention of students is drawn towards the exhibits and information in conveyed to them in an interesting manner.
This club designed the banners, brochures, flyers, invitation cards, kiosk displays, certificates and the compendium cover of the 38th Indian Poultry Science Association Conference and National Symposium (IPSACON) organized by the Division of Livestock Production and Management, SKUAST-K under the aegis of Indian Poultry Science Association (IPSA), ICAR-IVRI, Izatnagar held at Srinagar.
